UX Design, Research, Implementation & QA
User experience is a personal and professional passion of mine. My experience ranges from the research process to design and through implementation and quality assurance. I find the best user and usability research blends qualitative and quantitative methods because it allows decision makers to balance trade-offs effectively. In terms of design my approach begins with the brand and personas/use cases. The next steps are creating empathy maps and storyboards. With this solid understanding of the problem I prefer to run a design workshop (ideally something similar to the Design Sprint) with participation from key business and implementation stakeholders. The outcome of the workshop and refinements will be functional requirements, information architecture and wire-frames. While I have my favorite tools (Sketch, invisonapp etc.) my design skills revolve around the user above aesthetics. I consider myself software agnostic when it comes to UX and will start on a whiteboard or with pen and paper in order to communicate ideas visually.
I headed up UX efforts from ideation through launch and maintenance for at least a dozen consumer facing web and mobile projects in my former role at Tivix Inc. The verticals of the applications ranged from media, to real estate, finance and utility.
